The German Robert Koch Institute reports 17,767 new corona infections. That is a good 5,500 fewer than on Saturday, but 3,156 more than a week ago. On Sunday, the numbers are usually somewhat lower because less testing is done on the weekend and less data is submitted.
Despite the extended partial lockdown, the number of infections thus remains at a high level and even increases significantly compared to the previous week. 255 more people died from or with the virus. This brings the number of deaths to 18,772, a new record of 487 deaths on Wednesday. All in all, more than 1.17 million people in Germany have been proven to be infected with the coronavirus. According to the RKI, approximately 846,400 people are considered to have recovered. The seven-day incidence rose to 142 per 100,000 inhabitants.
