In the last 24 hours, Corona numbers in Austria rose in the 2,679 new infections. Vienna had the most new corona cases, with more than 800, while Vorarlberg had the fewest, with 55 new infections.

Within 24 hours, 2,679 new corona virus infections have been reported in Austria as of Sunday morning. In addition, 25 infected people died, bringing the Corona death toll since the beginning of the pandemic to 9,256. Intensive care units in the East continued to see slight increases in occupancy rates, while declines were reported in some states. Overall, there were five fewer covid patients hospitalized, but 15 more in ICUs than on Saturday.

Sunday numbers traditionally lower
As usual, the number of new infections on a Sunday was lower than the current seven-day average of 3,187. Calculated per 100,000 population, the figure remained about the same as the previous day at 251. About 50,000 PCR tests were added since Saturday, of which 5.4 percent were positive. There have been 536,465 positive test results in Austria since the pandemic began. 491,619 people have now recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. This means there were 35,590 active Corona cases in Austria on Sunday, one fewer than on Saturday.
1,121,653 people had received an initial Corona vaccination by Saturday evening, according to the dashboard at info.gesundheitsministerium.gv.at. That’s about 12.6 percent of the total population. 408,137 people have also received the second dose so far. That is 4.6 percent of all residents in Austria.
