Health departments in Germany have reported 18,129 new Corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. In addition, 120 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours. This is according to figures released by the RKI on Saturday. Exactly a week ago, the RKI had recorded 20,472 new infections and 157 new deaths within one day.
The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard as of 05.05, subsequent changes or additions by the RKI are possible. According to the RKI, the number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 population (seven-day incidence) was 131.4 nationwide on Saturday morning – slightly lower than the previous day (134.0).
The RKI counted 2,873,190 confirmed infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the pandemic began. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI reported the number of people who recovered to be about 2,560,400. The total number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 76,895.
