The Corona situation in Austria continues to ease. The number of new infections is decreasing. Yesterday, the lowest 24-hour figure in nine months was reported at 200 new infections.
Vaccination is also progressing: more than two million Austrians are now fully immunized against the corona virus, and more than four million people have been vaccinated for the first time.
There was a slight increase again from yesterday to today: 233 new infections were reported. However, this is still below the average of 260 positive test results over the past seven days. Five additional Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in Austria.
The seven-day incidence dropped to about 20 cases per 100,000 population.
There were still 309 people in the hospital, 18 fewer than had been reported on Saturday. 102 people were cared for in intensive care units – one more than the previous day, but 38 fewer patients than a week ago.
A total of 511,144 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of those, 55,387 were meaningful PCR tests, with a positive rate of 0.4 percent. All told, we now stand at more than 60 million Corona tests performed.
62,913 vaccinations were performed on Saturday. In total, according to E-vaccine data, 4,189,749 people have received at least a partial vaccination, or 47.1 percent of the population. 2,130,095, or 23.9 percent of Austria’s population, have been fully immunized to date.
