136 new corona infections in Austria: 101,408 vaccinations were administered on Friday

The 136 new infections reported on Saturday are below the average of 151 over the past seven days.
The seven-day incidence dropped to 11.9 cases per 100,000 population, the health and interior ministries said. Currently, there are still 2,880 active cases in Austria, down 208 from Friday.

Recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic are 635,886 people, within the past 24 hours 342 are considered recovered. Two deaths have occurred since Friday, with a seven-day average of 3.3 daily. In total, the pandemic has claimed 10,679 lives. Per 100,000 population, 120 people have died from or with Covid-19.

Only 251 people remain in the hospital, down twelve from the previous day. Of these, 83 people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number dropped by three and is down 18 patients in one week.

A total of 712,670 tests were reported in the past 24 hours, of which 81,967 were meaningful PCR tests. The positive rate of PCR tests was 0.2 percent.

101,408 vaccinations were administered Friday. Overall, 4.4 million have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to E-vaccine data: That’s 49.6 percent of the population. 2.4 million, or 27.5 percent of Austrians, are already fully immunized.

The vaccination coverage rate is highest in Lower Austria with 54.6 percent. Vienna brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 44.6 percent.

The province with the highest 7-day incidence is currently Vienna with 26.9, followed by Tyrol, Lower Austria and Vorarlberg (11.7, 10.2 and 10.1, respectively). Further, Upper Austria (8.1), Salzburg (7.2), Burgenland (7.1), Styria (4.8) and Carinthia (0.4) follow.
