Now it is certain: from October 17, vaccination of the third dose will begin. This was revealed by the Minister of Health.
In view of the rampant and increasingly resistant mutations of the coronavirus, it quickly became apparent that a third vaccination against the coronavirus – a so-called “booster vaccination” – would be necessary. Initially, however, it was not clear when exactly the vaccination of the third dose would begin. Now the date has been set.
Health Ministetr Wolfgang Mückstein announced the concrete date on Monday. “We are currently assuming that nine months after the second partial vaccination, the booster vaccination – the third sting – will be due.” Vaccination of the second dose began on January 17, the health minister reminded. Therefore, the starting signal for the third partial vaccination is now to be given – nine months later – on October 17.
A concrete vaccination recommendation for the third vaccination of the general population will be issued by the National Vaccination Committee at the appropriate time.
In principle, however, the implementation of booster vaccination in the fall will continue as usual, i.e.: organization and distribution of vaccines will be carried out by the federal government, and the implementation of vaccination will be carried out by the states. The clarification of the need as well as necessary preparations are running.
Depending on the federal state and the possibilities, people are invited to be vaccinated (for example, with a reminder letter for the booster vaccination). Accompanying information campaigns are carried out individually in the federal states.
Efforts are also being made to increase the involvement of the general practice sector in the implementation of the third vaccination. In addition discussions with all relevant places were already accomplished, are called it from the department of Minister Mückstein.
At present, it is particularly important that those people who have not yet been vaccinated are vaccinated and that as many people as possible complete their vaccination protection – this is the only way to ensure the best possible protection against Delta.
