By “Friday at the latest” – in the case of a yellow traffic light color – the obligation to wear masks is to be extended again to the entire retail and catering establishments.
Starting with the Corona traffic light color yellow, customers will have to wear mouth and nose protection throughout the entire retail sector again in the future. According to the Corona traffic light website, however, this will “probably” only apply from September 11. Health Minister Anschober has also announced that this measure will be implemented with legally binding effect by “not later than Friday”.
From then on the mask obligation applies again in the catering trade – there however not for guests, but only for service personnel. Excluded in both areas are children under 6 years of age and persons who cannot wear a mask for health reasons.
The stricter rules for events are not expected to come into force until 1 October. For those with assigned seats in closed rooms (e.g. opera or sports halls), there will then be a visitor limit of 2,500. These persons must wear mouth and nose protection, even at the seat. Staff with visitor contact also need a mask. At outdoor events with fixed seating, only 5,000 people are permitted. At the start of the Austrian Football League on September 11, only 10,000 spectators are allowed. Visitors are only allowed to take off the mask at the seat.
