Several states reported a record increase in corona infections on Saturday. An overview.
Slovakia reported a fresh record increase with 552 new corona infections within 24 hours. The total number of infections in the country with 5.5 million inhabitants is 8600. 44 people tested positive died.
With 7523 new corona infections, Russia has recorded the highest daily increase since 22 June. According to the authorities, the number of deaths rose by 169, bringing the total number of infections to 1.143 million and the number of deaths to 20,225.
With 2946 new corona infections, the Czech Republic reports the second highest daily increase. 15 more people who tested positive died, according to the Ministry of Health. The total number of confirmed infections in the country with 10.7 million inhabitants is thus 61,318, and a total of 582 people died.
According to a Reuters census, there are at least 58,577 confirmed new infections within one day in the USA. The total number of cases is thus 7.06 million. The number of deaths rose by at least 883 to 203,794.
In Germany, another 2507 corona tests were positive, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). This brings the total number to 282,730, with nine more people dying who tested positive. The total number of deaths thus adds up to 9452 so far.
