Within 24 hours, 1,209 new infections were registered – more than ever before.
On Thursday, a record number of 1,209 new SARS-CoV-2 infections were confirmed within 24 hours in Austria. It is also the third time this month that the increase is in the four-digit range, 1,058 were reported on Saturday, 1,028 on Wednesday yesterday. On average over the past seven days, there were thus 910 new infections daily.
The number of deaths related to SARS-CoV-2 increased by eight to 838 persons. On Thursday there were also 9,930 actively ill persons. There were 399 people in normal hospital wards, 19 fewer than on Wednesday. However, the number of intensive care patients increased – from 100 to 107 on Thursday. 21,762 tests were registered in the past 24 hours.
The new infections since the last notification are divided among the provinces of Austria as follows:
