In France, 26,896 people were infected with the coronavirus within 24 hours – more than ever before since the pandemic began. The number of infections yesterday thus made a significant leap up compared to the previous day.
On Friday, 20,339 new infections were reported. This was also a record number. The number of deaths on Saturday rose by 54 to 32,684. 67 million people live in France.
The coronavirus situation is therefore still very tense. In several cities, including Paris, Lyon, Lille and Marseilles, the highest warning level is already in effect. In the affected cities, bars and catering establishments that do not sell food have had to close for two weeks for the time being.
