Whoever comes to Austria from these countries must undergo a test or go into quarantine.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) announced new entry regulation. In it, the entry restrictions due to the corona pandemic as well as the testing and quarantine obligation are formulated in a new and more precise way than before. The conditions for entering from Croatia and Bulgaria are limited to some regions. The new regulation will officially come into force on Saturday and replaces the previous entry regulation.
For these countries a quarantine obligation applies
Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria (only the regions of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Dobrich, Gabrovo, Yambol, Kardzhali, Montana, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Shumen, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Varna), Chile, China (only the province of Hubei), Costa Rica, Ecuador, France (only the regions of Île-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur), India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Croatia (except the regions of Brod-Posavina, Istria, Koprivnica-Križevci, Osijek-Baranja, Šibenik-Knin, Varaždin, Zadar), Kosovo, Kuwait, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria, Northern Macedonia, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Portugal (only the Lisbon and Northern regions), Romania, Russian Federation, Senegal, Serbia, Spain (except the Autonomous Community of Canary Islands), South Africa, Czech Republic (only the Prague region), Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America, Philippines, Portugal (only the Lisbon and Northern regions), Romania, Russian Federation, Senegal, Serbia, Spain (except the Autonomous Community of Canary Islands), South Africa, Czech Republic (only the Prague region), Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America
Innovations
Immigrants who have been in a country defined as a risk area within the last ten days must present a negative molecular biological covid 19 test or immediately enter a ten-day quarantine. In quarantine, persons coming from risk areas must arrange for a corona test within 48 hours. A negative test result terminates the quarantine.
In the new regulation, the wording “reasons worthy of consideration within the family circle” is defined in more detail. A distinction is made between “unforeseeable and non-postponable” reasons – such as deaths, serious illness, funerals, births or the “care of persons in need of support in emergencies” – and “plannable” events such as weddings, baptisms or birthday celebrations. The latter also includes the non-regular visit of the life partner.
In these “plannable” cases, the testing and quarantine provisions of the regulation apply if the entry is from a state or region that is not on the list of safe countries of entry. However, in the “urgent” cases, entry is possible without negative corona test or quarantine.
In the new regulation several regions of Bulgaria and Croatia were taken from the list of the risk areas. Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already converted the travel warnings for the two countries into partial travel warnings for certain regions on Thursday. The seven Croatian counties of Brod-Posavina, Istria, Koprivnica-Križevci, Osijek-Baranja, Šibenik-Knin, Varaždin and Zadar are no longer considered risk areas. The testing or quarantine obligation still applies to the rest of the country. For Bulgaria, the requirements only apply to the administrative districts of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Dobrich, Gabrovo, Yambol, Kardzhali, Montana, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Shumen, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte and Varna.
The new entry regulation is valid until 31 March 2021.
