The situation in Vienna
The 659 new cases in Vienna also represent a new record level of new coronavirus infections. However, a spokesperson for the city’s crisis management team said in response to APA demand, this figure must be put into relation to the high number of tests performed yesterday, Wednesday (7,187).
According to the spokesperson, the new infections “are mostly K1 persons, which can be assigned to already existing clusters. K1-persons are those who have had direct and prolonged close contact with a demonstrably confirmed coronavirus-infected person. The contact persons are collected, isolated and tested via contact tracing.
