A “hard lockdown” might be imposed on Tuesday – probably, as is currently under discussion until December 8, i.e. for three weeks. The stores are then to open again for the Christmas business. If the infection situation allows it.

Official confirmation will only be given at a press conference on Saturday afternoon, but unofficially nobody in government circles denies that the country is facing further corona aggravations: there was talk on Friday of a “March-like lockdown”, starting on Monday or Tuesday.

In other words, all schools and shops will also be closed, initially for two to three weeks, after which – as in spring – there will be a phased opening in order to save the Christmas business and, last but not least, Christmas itself. Supermarkets, bank branches and pharmacies are likely to remain open, however.

Serious situation
The one or other company has apparently already adjusted to the new situation. According to reports, Hartlauer customers were asked by phone on Friday to pick up their glasses or similar items today or tomorrow because the store was closed on Monday.

In government circles, the situation is described as serious: “The numbers are exploding, the intensive care units are coming under increasing pressure. But the situation could still be brought under control – if one reacted quickly. Why also in schools, when children under 14 play a minor role in the infection process? One has to keep the overall situation in mind. And the more parents are in the home office, the faster the chain of infection can be broken.
