Within one day the health authorities reported 16,947 new corona infections in Germany according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Sunday. That is 5,514 cases less than the day before with 22,461 newly reported cases within 24 hours. On Sundays, the recorded case numbers are usually lower, partly because less testing takes place on weekends.
Last Sunday, the number of reported new infections was 16,017. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has recorded a total of 790,503 infections (as of November 15, 00:00 hrs). The number of deaths in connection with the corona virus rose by 107 to a total of 12,485. According to the RKI management report of Saturday evening, the so-called seven-day R was 1.05 (previous day: 0.99). This means that 100 infected persons are mathematically infecting a good 100 more people. The value reflects the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If the value is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection subsides.
