For the fourth week in a row, all Austrian districts in the Coronavirus traffic light remain on red. This is evident from the documents of the traffic light commission, which is meeting today. There is good news at least from Vienna, where 40 percent of all cases of infection can now be traced again. This puts Vienna far ahead of all other federal states with the exception of Salzburg.

Progress is being made, especially in Vienna, in clarifying the source of infection. The already very good figure of 31 percent in the previous week, compared to the rest of Austria, has been further increased to 40 percent in the federal capital. Salzburg remains with 32 percent at around one third.

Contact tracing at only 19 percent
The situation is significantly worse in most other federal states. In Upper Austria and Styria, for example, only eleven percent of all cases are known where the person concerned has been infected. The Austrian average is low at 19 percent. The agency for health and food security (AGES) announced in the previous week that finding the source of infection often lasts longer, the value from Tuesday thus in each case still will rise.

The number of positive tests dropped from 22 to 18 percent throughout Austria. In Upper Austria with 32.5 percent and Carinthia with almost 30 percent, the value is still very high. For comparison: in Vienna only eleven percent of those tested are positive.
