Within the past 24 hours (as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday), 2540 new coronavirus infections have been reported across Austria. 43 more people have died of or with coronavirus infection since yesterday.
Lower Austria recorded the most new infections in 24 hours, with 522 new cases. 442 were reported in Vienna, 378 in Salzburg, 284 in Carinthia, 273 in Upper Austria and 264 in Styria. There were 150 new infections in Vorarlberg, 142 in Tyrol and 85 in Burgenland.
As of Thursday morning, a total of 2354 patients were receiving hospital care for coronavirus infection. The number of those requiring intensive care has since increased by twelve – currently 373 people require treatment in intensive care units.
The number of fatalities is also growing. Within the past 24 hours, 43 more people across Austria have died from or with a coronavirus infection. In total, there have been 6568 deaths so far.
