According to a newspaper report, Great Britain wants to test all immigrants twice for infections with the coronavirus. This is intended to curb the spread of mutations of the pathogen, writes the Telegraph.
Health Minister Matt Hancock will announce the measure next week.

Ten-day hotel quarantine
To prevent the spread of new coronavirus variants, Britain will require arrivals from more than 30 countries to spend ten days in hotel quarantine from February 15. It concerns arrivals from states, which are classified as high risk areas, communicated the Ministry of Health in London. Austria is not affected, but Portugal, all states of South America and southern Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

All other entrants must isolate themselves for ten days as before. The new measure is aimed primarily at British travelers returning to the country. Entry from these countries is already banned for people not resident in the UK. Prime Minister Boris Johnson had announced the move for some time. However, no specific date had been given so far. The largest opposition party, Labour, called it “completely incomprehensible” that the government was waiting so long and not taking the step immediately.
