In the past week, the number of Corona vaccinations has increased again. As of Sunday, at least 212,062 people have been vaccinated.
The number of Corona vaccinations increased again last week. Up to and including Sunday, 80,852 new vaccinations were entered into the E-vaccination record. Thus, the vaccinations have again reached the level before the vaccination kink at the end of January and even exceeded it slightly. In total, at least 212,062 people had been vaccinated by Sunday, which corresponds to a vaccination coverage of 2.38 percent of the population. In fact, it is somewhat more, because the registrations are partly delayed.

80,852 vaccinations in the previous week: two-thirds of them for “2nd dose”.
So far, the highest number of Corona vaccinations had been carried out by the provinces in the week from January 18 to 24. For this week, the vaccination register (“E-vaccination record”) shows 80,338 vaccinations, according to figures published by the Ministry of Health. In the last week of January, supply problems then led to a significant drop in vaccinations to just under 61,000.

Last week, however, according to the figures updated on Monday, 80,852 vaccinations were again carried out. The majority of these (55,269) have received people who had already received a first vaccination dose now and were “fully immunized” with the second dose. In total, 71,135 people received the two doses needed for full immunization (0.8 percent of the population).

Israel as an international vaccination pioneer
Like all other EU countries, Austria continues to stay behind the international vaccination pioneer Israel. While Israel has already administered an average of more than 60 vaccine doses per 100 inhabitants (first and second vaccination together), Austria had between 3.18 (vaccinated) and 3.45 (delivered) per 100 inhabitants as of Sunday, depending on the census. This is slightly less than in Italy and Germany. Significantly faster than in the EU is vaccinated in addition to Israel also in Great Britain (almost 19 vaccine doses per 100 inhabitants) and in the United States (twelve per 100), as an overview of the platform Our World in Data (as of February 6) shows.

Number of vaccinations in Austria likely to be higher
However, the number of vaccinations actually carried out in Austria is probably somewhat higher than the data from the electronic vaccination register would suggest. This is because, according to estimates by the Ministry of Health, the vaccination register currently records only 90 percent of the vaccinations that have already been carried out. This is also confirmed by the Vorarlberg vaccination coordinator. The vaccinations carried out in hospitals are still reported there with a time delay. For example, the vaccination register for Vorarlberg currently shows around 15,000 vaccinations – but according to the state, just under 18,000 have actually been carried out.
