The Ministry of Health has presented the amendment to the protective measures ordinance.

With one exception, the entire regulation is to apply as early as March 15, once the National Parliament has given its blessing. The exception is that “re-sharpenings” in the professional area are to come into force from April 1 in order to ensure the necessary preparation time, it is said. The term “tightening up” refers to the fact that companies with 51 or more employees will need a mandatory Corona prevention concept from April 1.

On the other hand, relaxations under strict precautionary measures are now envisaged throughout Austria for children and young people up to the age of 18 in the field of sport and in youth work. Furthermore, self-help groups will be able to meet throughout Austria from March 15. “These measures are an important contribution to the well-being of young people in Austria and to mental health during the pandemic,” the Health Ministry said.

Curfew to be extended
In addition, the 4th Amendment to the 4th Protective Measures Ordinance includes controlled opening in the Vorarlberg model region, which is also scheduled to start March 15, 2021. The nighttime curfew regulation will be extended for an additional 10 days. All other measures in the 4th Amendment to the 4th Protective Measures Ordinance are valid for another 4 weeks. The measures will be continuously evaluated and may be adjusted according to the epidemiological situation, it says.

Extracurricular youth work up to 18 years of age may take place indoors and outdoors, and testing obligations for young people exist only indoors. Group size may be a maximum of ten people plus up to two group leader. There must also be a mandatory prevention concept and participation should only be possible upon registration.

Sports without physical contact is coming
Sports for up to 18-year-olds may now take place, but only outdoors and without physical contact. There is also no test obligation for the young people. Again, groups may be not be larger than ten youths plus two coaches. Again, a registration obligation and a prevention concept are required. In addition, meetings of self-help groups are possible. If they take place indoors, an FFP2 mask must be worn.
