March 20, 2021 – The coronavirus continues to spread in Austria. As a result, more than 3,300 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Austria continues to fail to get a grip on the coronavirus. Thus, the number of new infections has steadily increased so far this week. 1,896 cases were reported on Monday, 2,521 on Tuesday, 3,239 on Wednesday, 3,357 on Thursday and 3,515 on Friday yesterday – it was the worst Corona day so far in the still young year 2021.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober sounds the alarm in view of the high Corona numbers and has already announced new measures for Monday. “We are in the third wave,” said Anschober and therefore one must now react to the situation in the country.
And also on the weekend, the Corona situation in Austria does not really relax.
According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, there were in the last 24 hours namely again 3,444 new infections and 28 deaths.

To date, there have been 511,440 positive test results in Austria. As of today (9:30 a.m.), 9,052 people across Austria have died as a result of Corona virus and 470,684 have recovered. Currently, 1,844 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to the Corona virus. Of these, 394 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The Ministry of Health’s dashboard is operated by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) and can be accessed at “covid19-dashboard.ages.at.” The dashboard obtains its data exclusively from the Epidemiological Reporting Register (EMS) and is updated daily, 2:00 pm. The EMS is the official register in which data is entered by the district authorities as well as by laboratories.
