Temperatures will become milder again in the coming days.
After the onset of winter over the weekend, temperatures will become significantly milder again in the coming days, according to the ZAMG (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik) forecast.
If the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics has its way, spring will return to Austria on Tuesday. Until then, it is still necessary to survive Monday, when a cold current will determine the weather pattern in the Eastern Alps.
Weather on Monday still determined by cold current
Along the northern side of the Alps, dense clouds will accumulate and it will snow again and again. In the north and east, however, sun and clouds and a few snow showers will alternate.
The south is favored on Monday, here it remains largely dry. Early temperatures range from minus 6 to plus 2 degrees, daytime highs from 1 to 8 degrees.
Spring returns from Tuesday
Under the increasing influence of high pressure, the weather will slowly stabilize on Tuesday. On the northern side of the Alps, the nightly snowfall will quickly decrease, during the day only a few snowflakes will fall in some areas. In the north and east, the clouds will break up hesitantly, occasionally some rain may fall from them. Apart from that, there will also be sunny spells.
Sun and dense clouds: Austria divided in two at midweek
On Wednesday, the sun will shine throughout the western half of Austria with high pressure influence and often it will even be cloudless. In the east and southeast, however, some dense cloud fields will pass through from the northeast and the sun will come out briefly at most. However, it will remain mostly dry, only in the far east short rain showers cannot be completely ruled out. The maximum temperatures will climb to 6 to 14 degrees.
Sunny and mild on Thursday
Sunshine will predominate most of the time on Thursday, but during the day, high cloud fields will move into the west and north, causing the sunshine to appear diffuse at times. Also in the very east, somewhat more source clouds will form in the afternoon, nevertheless it will remain friendly. Temperatures of 10 to 17 degrees will be possible.
Up to 18 degrees on Friday
A weak disturbance zone will bring a mix of sun and clouds in the north and east on Friday. Isolated rain showers are also possible, especially in the mountains. Snow will fall above 1,500 meters. It will be sunny throughout in the west and south.
The wind will blow weakly to moderately from west to south. The daily maximum temperatures range from 12 to 18 degrees.
