As of May 10, everyone in Lower Austria who wants to be vaccinated will get it! According to Deputy Governor Pernkopf, the vaccine is now coming “en masse.”
The province of Lower Austria has just announced that from May 3 the group 50+, from May 5 the group 40+, from May 7 the group 30+ u. from May 10 the group 16+ will be released for vaccination appointments.
The 16+ group could even be activated as early as May 7. However, according to information from the state, this depends on how many have already booked an appointment beforehand.
A total of 326,000 appointments will be released, with injections taking place by mid/late June, it was announced.
“The vaccine is now coming in masses,” said Stephan Pernkopf (ÖVP), deputy governor of the state, at a press conference.
In Lower Austria, nearly 580,000 vaccinations have been carried out to date. “We want to achieve herd immunity,” emphasized Health Regional Councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ). The target is a vaccination coverage rate of 70 percent, she said.
“From July, we must convince those who have not yet been vaccinated,” said Christof Constantin Chwojka of 144 Notruf NÖ.
In Lower Austria, 110 Corona patients were treated in intensive care units on Tuesday, according to Bernhard Jany, spokesman for the provincial health agency. That was five less than on Monday.
Deaths
165 new infections were reported, the office of provincial health councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ) said. The number of deaths increased by three to 1,709. 8,779 contacts were in quarantine.
According to the dashboard of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), 331 intensive care beds are available in Lower Austria.
