At the start of the opening week, the threshold of three million vaccinated Austrians who have received at least the first sting will be broken. By June, everyone in the country (who wants to receive the vaccine) will be vaccinated, the Chancellor’s Office said. “The starting point for openings is even better than expected. The curve of the Corona infected points steeply downward, the curve of the vaccinated steeply upward,” Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) commented on the current development.
Assuming that two thirds of the population is willing to be vaccinated, 60 percent of those who want to be vaccinated have already received it. He said that the vaccination progress in the particularly vulnerable age groups was particularly encouraging: “By the end of the week, it can be expected that, in addition to Vorarlberg, Burgenland, Upper Austria and Tyrol will already have vaccinated two-thirds of the over-50s.” Kurz expressed confidence that the positive development will continue “and that we will be able to return to normality in the summer.”
