Israel began vaccinating adolescents aged 12 to 15 on Sunday (6/6). The Health Ministry had previously said the dangers of contracting the disease outweighed any possible side effects of the vaccination. “Cases of myocarditis in 16- to 19-year-olds have been rare and have mostly passed without complications,” the statement said. Israel uses the vaccine from manufacturers Biontech/Pfizer.
China has approved a Covid vaccine from Chinese manufacturer Sinovac for use in children and adolescents from 3 to 17 years of age. According to media reports, authorities have granted emergency approval for the vaccine. It remains to be seen when the government’s vaccination campaign will be extended to those under 18.
