Corona clusters following travel abroad decreased by nearly 50 percent in the last calendar week. In exchange, contagions in the own household increased by ten percent.
With the end of the vacations, travel-associated Corona cases almost halved in calendar week 35 (August 30 to September 5) compared to the previous week, from 31 percent to 15.7 percent. In contrast, new infections in households increased from 46.9 to 56.7 percent – an increase of almost ten percent compared to the previous week, shows the Epidemiological Covid-19 Clarification of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES).

According to the report, 2,688 of the total 11,348 cases are attributable to the household. 13.7 percent are due to infections during sports. According to the latest figures of the AGES, trade is responsible for only 0.4 percent of the cases. At 3.1 percent, the rate of infections in the hotel and catering sector is similarly low. Art and culture are responsible for 0.0 percent of cases.

Around two thirds of infections cleared up
As in the previous five weeks, the proportion of cleared sources of infection in Austria was again over two-thirds, at 68.1 percent. The proportion of asymptomatic courses increased from 27.4 percent to 28.8 percent this week. A total of 5,983 cluster cases were counted.
