The newest Vienna city hiking trail 12 is completed.
The “Wienerberg City Hiking Trail” with the number 12 is the latest “newcomer” among Vienna’s hiking trails: With a length of 19.9 kilometers, it leads from Favoriten via Liesing to Vösendorf.
“We are very pleased to be able to officially present the longest hiking trail by far to the people of Vienna. It is finished and can be explored immediately,” Mayor Michael Ludwig and Climate City Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky are pleased to announce.
Route of the Vienna City Hiking Trail 12
The city hiking trail number 12 (actually it is the 14th route, because there are also 1a and 4a hiking trails) leads as the second city hiking trail of the city of Vienna through a neighboring municipality. Starting at Wienerberg, the trail continues from the green bridge Vorarlberger Allee along the Güterweg, which joins Wiener Straße. Heading east, this branches off in the direction of Professor-Peter-Jordan-Strasse, leads to the Nativity Museum, and there branches off to the south of the market town of Vösendorf into Schloßplatz and past the castle.
Refreshment stops on the “Wienerberg” city walking trail
In front of the Red Cross, keep to the right in a westerly direction, across the park to the local road and at Professor-Peter-Jordan-Strasse north along the field path to the junction for crossing the S1. This is crossed at the overpass and then leads to the traffic circle Schönbrunner Allee. Along the A2 the way leads back to Vienna. Culinary delights are also not neglected during the hike – there are numerous places to stop for refreshments along the route, such as the Gasthaus Koci or the Schlossheuriger Vösendorf.
“The last two years in particular have shown us how important our local recreation areas are for the Viennese. We invite everyone to try out the new trail and take in the diversity of nature,” said Mayor Michael Ludwig. “We are also particularly pleased with the cooperation of the market town of Vösendorf in this project!” Accessibility by public transport is ensured by streetcar line 11, Frödenplatz stop.
