So far unknown perpetrators tried to trick several people in St. Pölten and in the district of Baden into entering bank data by means of so-called phishing SMS on October 4, 2021.

The victims receive an SMS with the sender “LPD AT” and are asked to pay an “outstanding fine” or an “outstanding fine”. In doing so, the victims are supposed to open an attached link and enter their bank details. The domain name appears to be “LPDGELDSTRRAFE.ME”.

Police recommendation
The police or any other criminal authority will certainly not send such SMS.
