This is well above the average of the past seven days of 4,625, on Sunday of the previous week there were 3,624 new cases. As on the previous day, most positive tests were added in Upper Austria, where there were 1,560, followed by Lower Austria with 1,184 and Styria with 717. Vienna recorded 560 cases, Salzburg 465, Carinthia 414, Tyrol 380, Vorarlberg 297 and Burgenland 107.
The seven-day incidence (number of new infections within seven days) rose sharply this week and now stands at 362.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The province with the highest value is Upper Austria with 576, followed by Salzburg (498), Lower Austria (383) and Vorarlberg (360). Carinthia (359), Tyrol (321), Styria (319), Burgenland (225) and Vienna (206) follow.
774,316 people have recovered
Twelve deaths have occurred since Saturday, and 106 covid deaths have been recorded within a week. In total, the coronavirus has claimed 11,357 lives in Austria so far. There have been 830,981 confirmed cases in this country since the pandemic began.
774,316 people have survived infection, and 3,161 are considered recovered within the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, there were thus 45,308 active cases, up 2,511 from Saturday.
There were 1,444 people in the hospital as of Sunday morning, 38 more than were reported the previous day. 280 people are being cared for in intensive care units. This number increased by seven since Saturday and has increased by 61 patients in one week.
11,188 vaccinations were recorded in the E-vaccination record on Saturday. More than 5.9 million people in Austria have received at least a partial vaccination so far, currently 66.1 percent of the population. Almost 5.6 million people, or 62.6 percent of Austria’s population, are fully immunized.
