Shortly before the official end of the lockdown in large parts of Austria, the number of new infections continues to decline. From Thursday to Friday, 3,659 new infections were registered in Austria. This is the first time since the national holiday that fewer than 4,000 cases have been recorded. The new infections are further below the average of the past seven days of 5,016. In addition, this brings the number of active cases down further to 78,581.
In the past 24 hours, 373,456 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 0.98 percent. The seven-day incidence decreased to 394.48.
There are also 65 new deaths associated with Covid-19 infection to report. Thus, the pandemic has claimed 13,076 lives in Austria so far.
