The most popular Messenger is missing a key feature when compared to similar services. Anyone who wants to react to a message on Signal or Facebook Messenger can do so with the help of Reaction emojis, without having to send a standalone message.

This is an extremely practical function, especially in group chats, because the clarity of the chat is maintained. This Reaction feature is not yet available on WhatsApp. Here, a separate message has to be composed for each reaction – even if it is only a thumbs-up emoji.

WhatsApp is getting Reaction emojis
However, this is supposed to change soon: Back in September, it became known that WhatsApp was working on such a Reaction feature. At that time, the blog WABetaInfo, which specializes in WhatsApp, published a screenshot of this feature.

Now, the same feature has reappeared in a publicly available beta version of the messenger, namely in version 22.2.72 for iOS devices. According to a report from WABetaInfo, this indicates that the Reaction feature is ready and will soon be distributed to more and more WhatsApp users.

The Reaction emojis can also be disabled. © Screenshot

Reactions visible to all
The selection of Reaction emojis should not be limited. According to the report, all possible emojis are available to WhatsApp users as a reaction to a message.

How someone reacted to a particular message is visible to all members in a group chat. The Reaction emojis can also be deactivated, as can be seen in a screenshot.
