At the invitation of Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. Ivan Frank M. Olea, the Young European Network of Filipino Diaspora (YENFiD), attended a meeting of Filipino Community (FilCom) leaders organized by the Embassy of the Philippines in Vienna on 8 February 2022 at the Embassy Chancery, 21st Floor, ARES Tower, Donau-City-Strasse 11, 1220, Vienna.
There was a lively discussion about proposed projects and activities which can be done collectively during the year. Among these were the 2nd Philippine Austrian Festivals Parade of the European Network of Filipino Diaspora Austria (ENFiD-Austria) on 27 August 2022, 4th Floral Offering at the Catalpa Trees in the garden in front of the Municipal Hall of Vienna annually organized by the Philippine Austrian Cultural and Educational Society (PACES), Independence Ball on 4 June 2022 and Barrio Fiesta on 23 July 2022, Arts Exhibition and sports-related events, e.g., “Palarong Pambansa,” Filipino Martial Arts, as well as activities on teaching Tagalog to young children.
Consul Patricia Milla discussed the new global online procedures for requesting appointments for passport applications, tentatively scheduled for roll out in March 2022. More information to follow.
CdA Olea reminded about the upcoming National election and announced that the official voters’ list is available on the Comelec website. He requested FilCom leaders to assist in disseminating this information.
The meeting ended with the buffet dinner enjoyed by the attendees.
