All of Austria is in for a thoroughly sunny weekend. In Vienna, it will remain cold; temperatures will climb up to 15 degrees in the West.
Vienna weather in detail
According to the latest forecast by the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) on Thursday, the West is favored in terms of maximum values.
On Friday, just one degree above zero is expected in the east, while it can rise to 15 degrees Celsius in the direction of Vorarlberg.
In East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia, on the other hand, quite tenacious high fog-like clouds will persist. Locally, a slight snow drizzle may fall from it. Everywhere else, high pressure will ensure undisturbed sunshine. On the northern side of the Alps, the wind will blow from east to southeast; in the western Danube region, the icy east wind will blow briskly to strongly. Early temperatures may reach a frosty minus nine to zero degrees.
Sunshine all over Austria: Wind freshens up though
In East Tyrol, remaining clouds will quickly give way to sunshine on Saturday, then very sunny, often cloudless weather will prevail in all parts of the country. The easterly to southeasterly wind will be light to moderate, but it will be brisk in Upper and Western Lower Austria. After early temperatures between minus eight and three degrees, highs will range from plus three degrees to plus 15 degrees, with the highs again in the West.
Brisk winds expected in Vienna
On Sunday, too, the high-pressure influence will ensure unclouded sunshine. Only in the far West will a few harmless, high cloud fields appear from the late afternoon. The wind will be light to moderate, in the east partly brisk, from east to south. In the morning, temperatures will be minus ten to plus two degrees, in the afternoon plus five to plus 15 degrees, the latter again in the western parts of the country.
Mainly sunshine will prevail on Monday; only in the West will there be a few cloud fields. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast to the south. The early morning temperatures will range between minus nine and two degrees Celsius, while the highs will reach plus seven to plus 16 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, it will be sunny, at least occasionally. As the day progresses, more and more clouds will appear, but it should remain dry until the evening. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the northeast to the south, in the morning, minus eight to plus three degrees, and eight to 17 degrees in the day.
