Wednesday has often brought a new high, but it even breaks the 50,000 mark this week. From Tuesday to Wednesday, 58,583 new infections were registered in Austria. This is well above the average of 44,458 over the past seven days. Currently, 416,899 people in Austria are actively infected with the coronavirus. This is also a new record, as never before have so many people in Austria been infected with Covid-19 at the same time.
The seven-day incidence is 3,496.3. Seven hundred twenty-two thousand four hundred one new PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours. This results in a positive rate of 8.11 percent.
There are also 28 new deaths associated with Covid 19 infection to report. To date, the Coronavirus has claimed 15,289 lives in Austria.
Currently, 3,033 people are being treated in hospitals. That is 46 patients more than on Tuesday. There are now 221 patients in intensive care units, two more than yesterday.
