Corona numbers are rising sharply in Austria, with infection levels increasing in tandem with falling temperatures. Twelve thousand two hundred seventy-four new infections were reported by ministries on Saturday – three times as many cases as three weeks ago. Three more people infected with the virus died.
According to AGES data, normal wards had 1490 Corona patients, an increase of 26 patients. Intensive care units saw 69 patients, a rise of two patients.
The seven-day incidence in Austria is now back to 856.1 per 100,000 population – a peak in Europe. The seven-day average is 11,041, and there are currently 103,588 active cases in Austria, up by as much as 5687 from Friday. The Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 20,754 lives in Austria since the outbreak.
