That energy will become more expensive was already apparent at the beginning of the year. Since April, the energy cost voucher for 150 euros has been sent to Austria’s households. It can be redeemed until March 31, 2023. However, whoever misplaces it and needs a new voucher can only apply for it until October 31, the Ministry of Finance now reminds.
To request a new voucher, there are two ways:
- On the website www.energiekostenausgleich.gv.at by cell phone signature.
- By calling the telephone number 050 233 798
Those who want to receive their energy cost voucher as quickly as possible should apply for it online, informs the Ministry of Finance, because: Online applications can be checked more quickly, and the vouchers used in this way are sent by mail instead of by post.
Around 400 million euros in vouchers have been submitted so far
“With the new deadlines, we have made energy cost compensation more customer-friendly,” says Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP). The goal, he says, is “to ensure that every citizen can make use of this relief measure.”
So far, more than 2.7 million have submitted the energy cost voucher, according to the Finance Ministry, with the majority redeemed online. He said this corresponds to a potential relief volume of 400 million euros. The energy cost compensation will be deducted from the respective energy supplier’s next annual or final bill.
The voucher may not be redeemed by single-person households earning more than a maximum of 55,000 euros per year. Multi-person households with an annual income of more than 110,000 euros are also not allowed to submit the voucher.
