Heating costs continue to rise, and people are saving money wherever possible. But hardly anyone knows the cheerful effect curtains have on the room temperature. So they are not just there for darkening or decoration but are helpful when saving heating costs.

We are afraid that soon we will only be able to stay at home wrapped in a thick blanket and hot tea in our hands. Energy prices seem to be going up to infinity. However, there are some tricks to save on heating costs that we wouldn’t think of in a hurry.

Curtains are heat insulators.
It is obvious, but we are not aware enough. Curtains not only make sure that it’s lovely and dark at night, that no one can see in, or that it looks nice and cozy. The fabric also ensures that a layer of air forms between the curtain and the window. This keeps the cold and drafts out of the room.

Save up to 10 percent.
If you think curtains have a very minimal impact, you’re wrong. The magazine FOR YOU explains that the simple trick can save up to 10 percent. Without curtains, much energy is lost, and it becomes faster, calm, and uncomfortable.

It depends on the material.

Of course, it all depends on what material the curtains are made of in the first place. The thicker, the better. Usually, they are sewn from linen, cotton, or mixed fabric. But there are so-called thermal curtains, which enhance the effect and are particularly good at damping and protecting from the cold. By the way, they protect just as well from heat and even dampening loud noises in summer. That sounds like a super trick that you should all try out.

Roller shutters are even more effective.
Unlike curtains, roller shutters are much less common, but they save even more energy. Up to 40 percent can be held if you leave the blinds down.

With this in mind, we wish you every success in saving energy!
