Today, Sunday, locally strong thunderstorms are expected again from Carinthia to Burgenland. According to the Austrian Severe Weather Center experts, the humid and thunderstorm-prone air from the north will slowly be pushed away. However, and calm early summer weather will set in at the beginning of the week.
Sunday will start cloudy in large parts of the country, and a few showers will fall in the southeast. In the day, especially from Vorarlberg over the Innviertel to the Weinviertel, the sun will appear more and more often, but otherwise, it will also loosen up a bit.
In the Alps and especially from Carinthia to Burgenland, however, showers and thunderstorms will develop again, which may be locally heavy. With a moderate to brisk northeast wind, temperatures will reach 20 to 28 degrees, with the highest values in Vorarlberg.
Weather calming at the beginning of the week
Monday and Tuesday will generally offer plenty of sunshine, with only a few harmless clouds away from the Alps. In the mountains, a few spring clouds will form during the day. In East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia, local heat thunderstorms will also occur, but overall the social impression will dominate.
Temperatures will hardly change. In the middle of the week, a small-scale low over the Czech Republic will cause a renewed increase in showers and thunderstorms, especially in the central and southeastern mountains and the north. The often sunny weather will continue from Vorarlberg to the Salzkammergut and in the southeast. Temperatures will then drop slightly in the second half of the week.
