As with every year, the weather during Easter vacation is mostly unstable and rainy. Gales of around 80 km/h can even be expected in some regions. It will briefly become milder on Monday, and temperatures could reach up to 20 degrees Celsius.
Friday will remain mostly cloudy until later in the morning, followed by a mix of clouds and sunshine. Isolated rain showers may also occur in Lower Austria. The wind will be weak to moderate. It will be warmest in the west and southwest, with temperatures of up to 20 degrees.
A cold front will move across Austria on Saturday. The tendency for showers will increase significantly eastwards along the northern Alps and reach the east and south-east of the country by late evening. Isolated thunderstorms and gusts of up to 80 km/h are also possible. Temperatures will nevertheless remain spring-like at up to 21 degrees.
The night before Sunday will bring fresh snow in the west and south. “Especially from the Arlberg to the Tauern and in Upper Carinthia and East Tyrol, we can expect around 20 to 30 cm of fresh snow on the mountains,” predicts Manfred Spatzierer, meteorologist at the Austrian weather service UBIMET. It will remain unsettled during the day. Most showers are expected along the northern Alps. In the rest of the country, however, the sun will come through again and again. Daytime highs will be between four and 13 degrees.
On Monday, the weather will show its spring-like side again. The sun will shine through more and more frequently. The 20-degree mark will also be within reach again. It will be warmest in the country’s east, with a maximum of 19 degrees.
