The upcoming weekend will bring plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. However, a cold front will reach us in the middle of the week, according to Geosphere Austria’s forecast for Thursday. From Tuesday, we can expect a lot of thick clouds that will bring widespread rain.
Until Friday morning, fog and high fog patches will persist in some areas over the lowlands and even last a little longer on the southern side of the Alps. Otherwise, sunny weather conditions will prevail. Although there will be a few more large cumulus clouds during the course of the day, the tendency to shower will only remain slightly higher in the southeast of the country. Winds will be weak to moderate, sometimes brisk along the Danube in Upper Austria from east to southeast, with early temperatures of six to 14 degrees and daytime highs of 17 to 23 degrees.
25 degrees at the weekend
High air pressure will dominate the weather on Saturday and ensure calm and often very sunny early fall weather. Over the lowlands, especially in the east and south, there will initially be a few patches of fog and high fog, most of which may clear in the course of the morning. The wind will be generally weak in the Danube region, and north of it it will also be moderate from easterly directions. Early temperatures will be mostly six to 13 degrees, with daytime highs of 18 to 24 degrees.
With persistently high air pressure, the weather will remain sunny and dry on Sunday. However, fog patches and high mist will persist, especially in the basins and valleys in the south and inner Alps. The wind will be light, but in the northeast,, it will be partly moderate from east to south. After early morning temperatures of four to 13 degrees, daytime highs of 18 to 25 degrees are expected.
Clouds and rain from Tuesday
The weather-determining influence of high pressure will gradually ease in the eastern Alps. Monday will start sunny once again. Early morning fog is rarely persistent. Gradually, however, dense clouds will gather more frequently from the west, and rain and showers are expected by the evening, especially from Vorarlberg to Salzburg, East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from east to south, only in the northeast. Otherwise, it will be lightly windy. Early temperatures are likely between six and 13 degrees, with daytime highs of 17 to 23 degrees.
A cold front will hit Austria from the northwest, bringing widespread rain showers and dense clouds. In the southern parts of the country, local thunderstorms are also embedded in the precipitation. In the afternoon, the showers will finally move to the south side of the Alps and south-eastern Austria. Further north and east, the precipitation will gradually decrease, and the cloud cover will clear from the north. The wind from the west will be weak to moderate. It will be nine to 16 degrees in the morning. Daytime highs will reach 17 to 22 degrees.
