A lot will change in the new year, and some things will become more expensive. However, numerous salaries and benefits will also increase. We have an overview for you.

Among other things, pensions will increase from 1 January 2025—by 4.6 percent and, therefore, by exactly the same amount as inflation. In addition, new pensioners who retire in the course of the year will benefit, in particular, from the extension of the protection clause and the further suspension of the aliquotation rule.

These salaries will be increased on 1 January 2025 in Austria
But it’s not just pensions that will be increased on 1 January in Austria—some salaries will also be raised, mostly by or above the underlying inflation. Hundreds of thousands of Austrians can look forward to a salary increase of up to around nine percent. For example, the salaries of postal workers, IT employees, cab and rental car drivers, and many more will increase.

Social benefits will also increase in Austria in 2025
In addition to pensions, social benefits will increase in line with inflation from 2023. This means that family allowances, the multi-child supplement, social assistance, care allowance, and many more will increase by 4.6 percent. For example, a single parent with two children and a part-time job will benefit from the increases by more than 1,000 euros per year.

These social benefits will increase in 2025:
Family allowance
Multi-child supplement
Child deduction
Childcare allowance
Family time bonus
School starting allowance
Care allowance
Social welfare
minimum income
Study grant
Pupil allowance
Sickness benefit
Rehabilitation allowance
Reintegration allowance

The low-income threshold increases significantly
The low-income threshold will also be raised in 2025. While this year it was still EUR 518.44, next year, Austrians will be able to earn up to EUR 551.10 without having to pay tax, a significant increase compared to 2024.

End of cold progression and more: these tax bonuses await you in 2025
With the new year, the end of cold progression will also shake out its money cushions again. This means that net salaries will rise without any salary increase. In general, tax rates will be adjusted for inflation. This means there will be higher social security refunds, and the deductible amounts will increase by five percent.

These bonuses will be paid out in Austria in 2025
Bonuses will also be paid again in 2025—and not too little. While the second payment wave of the 2024 climate bonus starts in February, hundreds of thousands of Austrians will receive up to 290 euros in their bank account or letterbox, and you can collect the renovation, repair, or tradesman bonus, among others.

Change in small business regulation relieves the burden on small businesses
Last but not least, significant changes to small business regulations will come into force on 1 January. These are intended to provide relief for small businesses in particular, with important changes including a higher turnover limit, more flexible regulations if this turnover limit is exceeded, and an extension to EU companies. You can find everything in detail here: New law will give small businesses more money from 2025.
