Spain classifies Austria as risk area

Austrian guests will have a harder time entering Spain starting next week. The background is the plus in Corona infections.

1,258 new Corona infections
Except for Burgenland, all provinces are on Spain’s risk list as of August 23. This was announced by the Ministry of Health in Madrid on Friday. Previously, only four provinces (Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Vienna) were on the risk list. Entrants then need a 3G proof (vaccination, recovery, test).

3G proof must be shown in Spain
From August 23, all of Germany will also be declared a Corona risk area by Spain, according to dpa, the Spanish Ministry of Health in Madrid further announced. This reclassification is initially valid for seven days. All entrants from twelve years of age must present a 3G proof until midnight of August 29.

Most recently, only five German states – Berlin, Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein – were considered risk areas. In the case of an antigen test, it must not be older than 48 hours on arrival; for PCR tests, the maximum is 72 hours. Visitors from countries that have low infection rates and are not on the Spanish list of risk areas are allowed into the country without any requirements. However, all visitors must still fill out an online form. They will receive a QR code that must be presented upon entry. Airlines often check that passengers meet all requirements before departure.

Czech Republic assigns Germany “orange” on Corona traffic light
Due to rising infection figures, the Czech Republic will in future classify Germany as “orange” with a medium risk on its Corona traffic light. The health ministry in Prague made the announcement Friday. The change will apply from Monday, but will have virtually no effect. As before, those who want to enter the country must show a negative Corona test or be fully vaccinated for at least 14 days if the traffic light is green. In addition, an online registration form must be completed. For small border traffic, for example for shopping, an exception applies.

Meanwhile, the requirements are stricter for Switzerland and Bulgaria, which the Czech Republic now classifies as “red” on the Corona traffic light. Tourists from these countries must present a negative PCR test upon entry and enter quarantine, which can be terminated with another PCR test on the fifth day at the earliest. Fully vaccinated persons are also exempt from this requirement. Similar strict rules will also apply in the future to the USA and Israel, among others, which will change from “green” to “dark red”.

In the Czech Republic itself, the number of new Corona infections remains at a comparatively low level. Most recently, there were 12 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.
