Vaccination progress is stagnating, the vaccination rate required for relaxation is a long way off. Starting today, a first part of the new measures is in force. As announced, it mainly affects the unvaccinated.
Here is an overview of what applies nationwide as of today:
– Tests: antigen tests are only valid for 24 hours. The federal states are also allowed to be more restrictive with the rules. Vienna, for example, had already previously shortened the validity period of antigen tests. In Vienna, PCR tests are also valid for “only” 48 hours, while nationwide the validity of PCR tests remains unchanged at 72 hours for the time being.
– There are exceptions for schoolchildren: here, antigen tests are accepted for longer as part of the Ninja Passport, which is justified by the high frequency of testing.
Places of daily use: FFP2 masks will become mandatory where currently mouth-nose protection must be worn (places of daily use e.g. supermarket, public transport). However, this applies to all groups, not just the unvaccinated.
Trade: There is a recommendation for FFP2 masks for all also in the trade with goods, which do not serve the everyday need. For unvaccinated persons and persons whose recovery has been over for more than six months, this will be obligatory. Controlled is to be this new regulation also by the police, it was said on Tuesday evening in a dispatch of the Ministry of Health. Also the trade itself would have to carry for the observance concern. This includes, for example, the installation of signs, random checks, the provision of masks and information material, etc. In addition, the health authorities and the police are authorized to carry out random checks – read more here:
Events: The 3G rule applies to events with 25 or more people – until now, the 3G rule only applied to events with 100 or more people.
Culture: The FFP2 obligation for unvaccinated and unrecovered persons only exists where 3G does not apply. This means that only unvaccinated persons must wear this type of mask in museums, libraries, libraries and archives. In concerts and theaters, on the other hand, a test is still sufficient. This tightening was surprisingly added by decree on Tuesday.
So in grocery stores must be worn in the future a FFP2 mask. Supermarket chains have announced that they will offer FFP2 masks free of charge with immediate effect:
Federal states may take stricter action
It should always be noted that the federal states are allowed to apply more restrictive rules. Currently, the federal capital is already doing so.
Stricter regulations apply in Vienna:
Here, even vaccinated and recovered people must continue to wear masks, for example, in fashion stores, but unlike the unvaccinated, a normal mouth-nose protection is sufficient.
In addition, Vienna has shortened the validity of antigen tests to 24 hours, as well as PCR tests to 48 hours. The self-tests have already lost their validity for some time.
In the federal capital, the Corona rules in theaters, cinemas and concerts have been applied for some time and continue to be applied more strictly: in addition to 3G, mouth-nose protection is also mandatory for everyone in the theater, cinema and concert areas. In museums, MNS protection is still required for all, but no 3G proof. Unvaccinated people must wear an FFP2 mask in museums, exhibition halls and galleries from Wednesday.
