One in 18 – Corona infections in the United Kingdom have risen significantly. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimated Friday that a total of 3.5 million people were infected in the week ending July 6, up nearly 800,000 from the previous week. “There is no sign that infections are decreasing, but they are approaching levels last seen in March at the height of the BA.2 wave,” said ONS expert Sarah Crofts.

Most commonly, infected people complain of a sore throat, headache, stuffy nose, and cough. A hoarse voice and muscle pain were also frequently mentioned. High fever or loss of smell or taste was far less common.
