From Tuesday to Wednesday, 5,930 new infections were registered in Austria. In addition, 17 fresh deaths related to the coronavirus were reported. Thus, there are currently 71,322 active corona infections in Austria.
The nearly 6,000 positive test results represent approximately 1,000 more cases than the seven-day average (4,937). The seven-day incidence dropped to 388.27 cases per 100,000 population.
To date, there have been 4,838,241 positive test results in Austria. Nineteen thousand two hundred ninety-six persons with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died, and 4,747,623 have recovered nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Covid forecasting consortium, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, is gradually assuming a “stagnation in the incidence of infection.” In addition, the immune protection acquired through vaccinations and infections in the population is steadily declining and, according to AGES, is currently just over 70 percent, down from about 90 percent in April. As a result, “an acceleration of infection dynamics is expected in the medium term,” warn the model calculators from TU Wien, MedUni Vienna, and Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG).
