Is it Bill Gates? Is it that one guy who owns Louis Vuitton? Or is it the one from Twitter and Tesla?
The answer to this question is subject to constant change. According to “Reuters,” over 7.5 trillion U.S. dollars move back and forth daily in our world. Admittedly, we “normal people” don’t notice too much of this, but this figure makes it clear that things can change quickly in the echoes of the super-rich. A good day for one’s company can soon raise one’s fortune by 100 billion.
Who is the richest person in the world?
According to Bloomberg, Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and Twitter financier, currently holds this title. He has once again overtaken Bernard Arnault, chairman of the LVMH Group (Louis-Vuitton-Moët-Hennessy). Over the past few years, the two of them, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, have been tossing the title back and forth every few months, depending on whose business is currently doing better.
Elon Musk’s fortune currently amounts to around 187 billion U.S. dollars. This makes it about 2.6 million times larger than the average U.S. income. However, most of his wealth is tied to his shares in the world’s most valuable automaker, Tesla Inc. The rest is divided among his ventures, such as SpaceX, Twitter and The Boring Company.
Whether it’s OK for one person to bundle so much capital is questionable. How much power one pocket with such a deep wallet in a capitalist society is also doubtful. While the richest men have been able to increase their wealth even during the pandemic steadily, other people are struggling to make ends meet.
