Driving will be more expensive in 2025. As announced on Thursday, the new vignette will cost 103.80 euros—a whopping 7.7 percent increase.
Those who prefer to travel by train will also have to pay significantly more. The price of the Austria-wide climate ticket will be increased by law from January 1st. The joint annual ticket for all public transport in the country will then cost EUR 1,179.30 instead of the previous EUR 1,095. The discounted Youth, Senior and Special tickets will be available for EUR 884.20 instead of the current EUR 821.
New charges
From 2025, the City of Vienna’s charges for water supply, wastewater, waste disposal and parking tickets will also be adjusted. According to City Hall, an average Viennese single household of 40 square meters will have to expect additional monthly costs of 1.35 euros from next year, while a multi-person household (90 square meters) will have to pay 3.11 euros. Specifically, the price of a one-hour parking ticket will rise from 2.50 to 2.60 euros.
Austrians will also be burdened by the expiry of subsidies. The electricity cost subsidy (electricity price brake) was no longer extended, meaning that the supplementary subsidy for larger households will also be discontinued.
