27,000 new infections and 504 deaths in Italy

The number of new coronavirus infections in Italy fell on Monday. The number of new infections decreased from 33,979 to 27,354 in 24 hours. There were 504 deaths, 42 less than the day before. This brings the number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic in Italy on February 20 to 45,773. 152,663 tests were performed within 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday. 17 percent turned out positive.

The number of confirmed active cases was 717,784. The number of people infected with SARS CoV-2 in quarantine was 681,756. The number of Covid 19 patients treated in hospitals increased from 32,047 to 32,536 compared to the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported. There were 3,492 patients in intensive care units, 70 more than the previous day.

The northern Italian region of Veneto wants to rely on anti-Covid self-tests, which have already been tested on 5,000 people since Monday. The President of the Region Luca Zaia tested himself and showed live via Facebook how the kit works. Zaia had to wait one and a half minutes before he could present his negative test result via video conference.
