The Ministry of Health warns against dubious vaccine offers from the Internet. The coronavirus crisis does not stop at online fraud. Currently, attempts are being made to sell vaccine on the Internet via dubious e-mails, the ministry said.

Back in December, the international police organization Interpol published a global warning against fake counterfeit coronavirus vaccines and test kits.

Now the Ministry of Health is also drawing attention to the fact that only vaccines that have also been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) may be vaccinated in Austria. “In the specific cases, it often seems to be a matter of counterfeiting and attempted fraud.” In addition, current coronavirus vaccines are particularly sensitive in their logistics and would be damaged and thus rendered unusable by improper delivery, it said.

The Ministry of Health further emphasizes that Covid vaccines are “available free of charge to everyone in Austria.” Each and every Austrian will be given the opportunity to be immunized with high-quality vaccine approved in the European Union, it said.

“Here, the state takes responsibility and can guarantee that it is vaccine that works.” Resorting to expensive and unsafe products from the Internet is not only a cost trap, but also unnecessary and extremely dangerous, he said.
