34,188 active cases. All current figures on the Corona pandemic at a glance.
What is the next step in the lockdown? The federal government is discussing this today together with the opposition, experts and the state governors.
Decisive for the outcome of today’s summit, apart from the situation in the intensive care units, is the current infection situation.
This was constant to slightly decreasing over the Easter holidays – Austria is currently holding at a 7-day incidence of 228.
From Easter Monday to Tuesday, 1,935 new infections were reported. This is the lowest figure since mid-March – but is probably also related to the Easter holidays and an associated reduction in testing activity (around 27,000 compared to around 50,000 on weekdays).
There were also 35 new deaths reported in the past 24 hours. This means that there are currently 34,188 active cases in Austria.
69 new patients were admitted to a normal ward in the past 24 hours, and there are 14 additional patients in intensive care units, which are already under strain (see chart below). Thus, 2,395 people are currently undergoing hospital treatment due to the Corona virus – 578 of them in intensive care units.
