21 September 2020 – Vienna. The “Aktion scharf” against those who refuse to take action starts today. Anyone who does not comply with the new guidelines must expect severe penalties.
Painful penalty for guests & restaurant owners
➔ Guest: up to 3.600 Euro. who will be caught as a guest in a restaurant and disregards for instance the closing time (at the latest 1.00 o’clock in the morning), must pay up to 3,600 euro penalty. This is stated in the “Covid-19-Maßnahmengesetz”.
➔ Owners up to 30,000 euros. For the restaurant owners in whose premises the rules are disregarded, a penalty of up to 30,000 euros applies.
➔ More than 10 persons. This is where the Epidemic Law comes into play: If more than ten people gather in an interior space (excluding private homes), a penalty – after a report to the police – can be set at up to 1,450 euros.
Covid measures. Since midnight, the tightened measures have been in force.
➔ Duty to wear masks. As of today, it also applies at markets, in shopping centers and at trade fairs.
➔ Locations. It may only be taken off at the table, otherwise it must always be worn in restaurants. Also new: Only 10 people are allowed per table. Nothing may be served at the bar.
➔ No parties. Inside (except at home) never more than 10 people are allowed. This also applies to weddings etc.
➔ Closing time. Is from now on without exception at 1.00 o’clock. Federal states can move it to the front, however.
➔ Exceptions. This does not apply to funerals, religious practices and demos
